About us

Welcome to the PCS ARMS Merseyside Group which was formed in 2014 by local PCS members who had left the civil and public services but who still wished to be part of the union. It is open to all ARMS members who live or were employed in the Merseyside area.

What is ARMS?
ARMS (Associate & Retired Members) is the section of PCS for members who are retired, have been made redundant, or have moved to jobs where PCS doesn't operate, but want to maintain some involvement in the union, or simply want to keep in touch.

Locally we support the work of PCS, the wider trade union movement and pensioner groups, e.g. picket lines, demonstrations, local rallies and conferences, and PCS campaigns such as direct debit sign up and the pay campaign. However, just how involved you become is entirely up to you.

This blog, along with our Facebook page, aims to keep local ARMS members up-to-date with what's going on. We hold regular meetings which all ARMS members are welcome to attend. Membership also entitles you to a range of useful benefits which are listed here.

I'm interested. What next?

  • To convert your PCS membership to ARMS, or if your membership has lapsed, click here. Membership costs £2.14 per month.

  • Contact the Merseyside group here and provide us with your e-mail address and a phone number (landline, mobile or both). Sorry: we cannot afford postal costs.

  • Our schedule of meetings, to which all members are invited, is here.

Your contact details will be used solely to keep you informed and will never be passed on to anyone else.

Message for current PCS branch secretaries

  • Branches with responsibility for members in Merseyside can help us by telling their members, especially those who are leaving, about ARMS.

  • Contact us if you need more information yourself and please consider inviting someone from our group to one of your BECs.
